About The Conference
It started 60 years ago
The conference Equadiff 15 is organized by joint efforts of the following institutions:
- Masaryk University (Faculty of Science),
- Brno University of Technology (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering),
- Czech Academy of Sciences (Institute of Mathematics),
- The Union of Czech Mathematicians and Physicists (Brno branch).
We support participants from Ukraine. We encourage researchers and PhD students to contact the organizers regarding the details.
Scientific program
- ordinary differential equations (ODE),
- partial differential equations (PDE),
- numerical analysis and applications (NAA).
In addition to standard scientific program we plan to include a presentation and discussion about the ERC grants in mathematics. The presentation will be delivered on Thursday (14 July 2022) afternoon by an expert from the ERC administration. More details will be provided during the conference in the scientific program.
Technical information:
- In every lecture room, there is a PC with Win 10. The best option is to have your presentation in PDF on a USB drive.
- PPT and PPTX formats are also possible. Using your own laptop is possible via HDMI port (full size).
- ⚠ Apple devices are not supported by the lecture room systems.

Following the tradition of the Czech-Slovak series of Equadiff conferences, the Equadiff 15 proceeding will be published in the journal Archivum Mathematicum (Brno) as a supplement of the 2022 volume. The editors of the proceedings will be Zuzana Došlá, Jan Chleboun, Pavel Krejčí, Martin Kružík, Šárka Nečasová, and Roman Šimon Hilscher. The deadline for submission is August 31, 2022. All submitted papers will be peer-reviewed during the editorial procedure.
Instructions to authors:
- The authors should indicate in the cover letter, to which section ODE or PDE or NAA the contribution belongs.
- The manuscript should be submitted as a single pdf file to the conference email equadiff15@gmail.com with the subject line "Proceedings submission".
- The page limit of the contribution for plenary, invited, and keynote speakers is 12 pages, the page limit for all other participants is 8 pages. The authors should comply with the general style of Archivum Mathematicum, using the standard amsart latex package. The page format is B5 (125 x 190 mm of text width x height) with the 10 pt font size. The manuscript should contain a short abstract, the 2020 Mathematics Subject Classification, keywords, and the author's affiliation and address, including the e-mail address. The bibliography should be prepared by using the standard AMS serials abbreviations and in the MathSciNet style.
- A latex template file is available. You may also wish to have a look at the resulting sample pdf file.

How to get there
Here are some tips for the public transport in Brno
For every trip, you need a ticket. Usually, it is possible to buy it at newsstands or you can use your debit/credit card in the marking machine inside the tram or trolleybus (see https://pipniajed.cz/en.html). Eventually, you can buy it at a yellow ticket machine located nearby some stops. For a short trip, you can use the 15-minute tickets, which costs 20 CZK (it is suitable for the trip from the Main train station to Hotel Continental or Hotel Passage). For longer trips, you need the 60-minute ticket, which costs 25 CZK. After boarding a tram or trolleybus, the ticket has to be marked in a machine (only one time during its validity), which is somewhere near the doors.
After the registration (as a part of the registration package), every participant gets a 5-day ticket.

Where to eat
Here are some tips for nearby restaurants and other places
Coffeehouses
Brno is famous for its coffeehouses. If you wanna taste a perfect cup of coffee, one of the best places is Coffee Fusion on Jánská, which is one of the first coffee houses with specialty coffee in Brno and you will be served by two times winner of barista cup. If you prefer a more Italian-style cup of coffee and you want a perfect piece of dessert to it, then you need to visit Café Momenta on Zelný trh. The more hidden gem is Mitte Coffee on Panská, which has peaceful outside seating with a terrific view on Old town hall tower.
Ice Cream
If you need to refresh yourself on a city tour, you can try ice cream from Božský kopeček ("Heavenly Scoop"). It is vegan gelato served from like tuk-tuk cars mostly on Náměstí svobody, Zelný trh and Moravské náměstí. If you don't mind standing in the queues, then you need to try an ice cream from Ještě jednu on Minoritská.
Beer
If you prefer refreshing with beer, then one of the best places with a unique atmosphere is Na stojáka on Jakubské náměstí. If you prefer to sit with your beer you can try beer house Pivní burza on Jánská street with the unique concept of floating beer price as on the stock market.
Food
When you are hungry and want to grab something to eat with your beer then Lokál u Caipla on Kozí is the place to go. If you want to enjoy a perfect evening with a little bit of fine dining and wine visit Kohout na víně which is in House of Arts on Malinovského náměstí. And if you prefer a cocktail with your food then Element on Běhounská is the perfect place.
You can enjoy a good brunch at Kafec on Orlí, at Café Placzek on Minoritská or at Skog on Dominikánské náměstí.
If you have sweet tooth try Cukrářství Martiňák in Alfa Passage on Poštovská or Sorry, pečeme jinak on Křídlovická, which is not close to the city center but quite close to conference site.
If you are not sure what you want, visit Platz in upper part of Zelný trh. There is a calm and unique shared food court of 5 different establishments with vertical garden.
